چکیده

Abstract Grow-out of lobster performed in a tank culture system offers several advantages over floating sea cage culture, particularly the control environmental factors. However, growth reared tanks need to be evaluated determine rearing period achieve market size. Growth is defined as change size through molting process. Therefore, this study was assess differences weight and length increment at molt male female sub-adult scalloped spiny Panulirus homarus , well annual tanks. Sub-adult lobsters with an initial average 226.18±20.30 g were stocked twenty 4000-L fiber 20 lobsters/tank. Each tagged by photographic method carapace enable identification individual molt, increment. Observation carried out for 42 days rearing. observation showed that between significantly different. The higher (10.00 mm) than those (7.93 (p<0.05). not different sexes. males females 18.53 20.71 g, respectively (p>0.05). In terms increment, both sexes also had fairly similar growth, achieving 168.38 g.yr-1, on average. This found there increased zero declined P. .

Evolutionary Divergence of Geographic Subspecies within the Scalloped Spiny Lobster Panulirus homarus (Linnaeus 1758)

Panulirus homarus is an economically important spiny lobster that is widespread through the Indo-West Pacific Region, but has an uncertain taxonomic status, with three or four geographic subspecies having been described. This study used mitochondrial (16S, COI and control region) and nuclear (18S, ITS-1) DNA sequences to examine specimens of all putative subspecies and forms from throughout the...

Novel genomic microsatellite markers for genetic population and diversity studies of tropical scalloped spiny lobster (Panulirus homarus) and their potential application in related Panulirus species.

Fourteen polymorphic microsatellites with perfect di-, tri-, and tetra-nucleotide repeats were identified for Panulirus homarus using Roche 454 whole-genome sequencing method. Microsatellites were efficiently co-amplified in four multiplexes and a singleplex, providing consistent and easily interpretable genotypes. The number of alleles per locus ranged from 2 to 11 with the observed and expect...

Histology and ultrastructure of male reproductive system of the Indian Spiny lobster Panulirus homarus (Decapoda: Palinuridae).

The spiny lobster Panulirus homarus, distributed along the Southeast and Southwest coasts of India, is an important commercial species having mariculture potential. Despite its importance, the structural and ultrastructure features of male gonads from this species have received scarce attention. Hence this study was aimed to describe the male reproductive tract of the species, using standard hi...

An Assessment of the Spiny Lobster Panulirus homarus Fishery in Oman — Another Decline in the Western Indian Ocean?

The scalloped spiny lobster Panulirus homarus supports numerous traditional diving, trap and trammel net fisheries in the Western Indian Ocean. Commercial catches made in 2003 to 2005 in the Arabian Sea region of Oman (a coastline of ~1100 km, comprising Dhofar and Al-Wusta) were sampled for length and sex composition, and female reproductive condition. On average, lobsters caught in Dhofar wer...
